Cuisery occupies a privileged position on the edge of a plateau, on a promontory overlooking the plain of Bresse and Seille, one of the most beautiful navigable rivers of France.

Here, the book is king: the village is home to several bookshops, craft workshops, a dedicated market, etc. And enjoy the historic heritage of this city founded in the Middle Ages and head of an 11th century royal "châtellerie". On August 6, 2017, M.LEHRE, ??Mayor and his Town Council inaugurated the historic route of our village. This important work realized with Paul Perraut, local historian, allows to discover History, places and personalities through 20 panels. The circuit of approximately 2.2 kms is available on leaflet which can be accessed in City hall or at the Tourist Office.

Angling Information

The Seille is well known to fishermen. Ranked in the second category, it has a large population of white fish that are bleak, bream, stud or tench. The river is also enriched with carnivorous species such as pike, perch or perch. Do not forget the black bass and the famous catfish that can reach nearly three meters.

Officially fourth book village since 1999, twenty shops specializing in various fields of books and book trades await you daily. It's also a very lively book market every first Sunday of the month.

At the heart of a two-hectare park, the Eden Center allows you to discover, in a fun and educational way, the fauna and flora of the region.

Our Lady of Cuisery: Built in 1504, exceptional architecture with its twelve chapels and Renaissance porch, Flemish XVIth century triptych, old paintings: the Denarius of Caesar and the Adoration of the Magi, stalls, remarkable wall paintings of the sixteenth in the Caron Chapel.

The Tower: Located next to the Church and half ruined: it is all that remains of the old and powerful feudal castle of the lords of Bagé. From the belvedere at the bottom of the park surrounding the church, beautiful panorama on the plain of Seille until the Jura with in background the Alps.

St. Peters Chapel was built in the eleventh century, it was partly destroyed at the time of the construction of the ramparts. Note its lava stone roof, this building remains one of the oldest monuments of Bresse.
